Insurance Coverage vs. Spa Services: What You Need to Know at Armstrong Massage & Wellness

At Armstrong Massage and Wellness, we know how important it is for clients to understand the difference between services that are covered under insurance and those that are not. Because our Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) provide both therapeutic treatments and spa-inspired enhancements, we want to make sure you feel confident when booking and submitting your claims.

What’s Covered Under Insurance?

Insurance coverage applies only to treatments performed by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and that are deemed therapeutic. At our clinic, these include:

  • Massage Therapy Treatments – Deep Tissue, Prenatal Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, and other therapeutic sessions designed to relieve pain, tension, and stress.
  • Facial Massage & Scalp Treatments – Since these treatments are performed by RMTs and are therapeutic in nature, they are also eligible for insurance coverage.

When billed, your receipt will clearly list the RMT and the type of therapeutic massage service provided.

What’s Not Covered Under Insurance

Some treatments we offer are designed for relaxation, beauty, and skin health rather than therapeutic care. These spa & wellness add-ons are not claimable through insurance, but they are a great way to enhance your experience:

These services can be booked alongside your massage therapy appointment but will appear separately on your receipt as they are not eligible for insurance reimbursement.

How to Book the Right Treatment

To make booking simple, our Jane online booking site separates services into categories:

Massage Therapy Treatments (covered by insurance)

Facial Massage & Scalp Treatments (covered by insurance)

Spa & Wellness Add-Ons (not covered by insurance)

Bottom Line

If you’re booking with insurance in mind, stick to Massage Therapy and Facial/Scalp Treatments. If you’d like to add something extra for relaxation or skin care, explore our Spa & Wellness Add-Ons — a perfect complement to your therapeutic session.
